THE DISTILLERY
Lucas Bols in 1575 opened a small distillery on the outskirts of Amsterdam. He had herbs and spices brought from all over the world, with which he created the liqueurs that have made him famous throughout the world.
His son, Jan Jacob Bols, built a new distillery in the City, and this was passed from generation to generation, until in 1816, it was sold.
The new company has faithfully followed the hundred-year-old recipes of its founder.
