THE CELLAR
It was at the beginning of the last century, that the Masachs family was already dedicated to the cultivation of the vine on their estate in Vilafranca del Penedès, a wine-producing area par excellence, where the vine was already cultivated in Roman times.
It was, specifically, Mr. Josep Masachs Llorach, a man of strong convictions, great character and dedicated since his childhood to the cultivation of the vine, who founded Cavas Masachs in the last decade of the twenties, producing cava in an absolutely traditional way and with a limited production, intended basically for family consumption and their closest friends. Later, his son D. Josep Masachs Juvé, continued the work begun by his father, under the same prism of very limited and artisanal production, working incessantly, day by day, to improve the quality of his cavas.
When the years 1977 and 1978 arrived, Josep and Joan Masachs undertook new guidelines and introduced a new line of cava to the market, based on the experience and knowledge of their predecessors. Little by little, in the national market and later internationally, the excellent quality of the cavas made by this young business couple is recognized, and their effort and dedication is rewarded. These results and the increase in demand for his products left the facilities used from the beginning by his grandfather small, forcing the construction of new facilities in 1985 on the Monsarra farm, located in the municipality of Torrelles de Foix. Today, Cavas Masachs continues to produce wines and cavas on its Monsarra estate with the same desire for improvement and quality that its founders already undertook.
