THE CELLAR
The Courvoisier story begins at the beginning of the 19th century when Emmanuel Courvoisier and his partner Louis Gallois created a wine and spirits company in the Parisian neighborhood of Bercy. In 1811 Napoleon visited his warehouses at Bercy and was hosted by Louis Gallois, the Director, and Emmanuel Courvoisier. Legend has it that Napoleon took several barrels of cognac with him to Saint Helena. Napoleon gave part of this cognac to some English officers. They called it from then on: Napoleon's cognac.
