Courvoisier's story begins at the beginning of the 19th century when Emmanuel Courvoisier and his partner Louis Gallois created a wine and spirits company in the Parisian neighborhood of Bercy. In 1811 Napoleon visited his warehouses in Bercy and was hosted by Louis Gallois, the Director, and Emmanuel Courvoisier. Legend has it that Napoleon took hundreds of bottles of Courvoisier Emmanuel cognac to enjoy during his years in exile.
