Don Julio Blanco Tequila is the base from which the other variants are derived. Commonly called Silver tequila, or plata, its sharp agave flavor with citrus notes make it the essential component for a range of innovative drinks including the Margarita.
It is made using traditional methods from 100% blue agave (plant native to Central America, also called mezcal, maguey or pita). It is crystal clear, smooth and slightly sweet. is a classic example of tequilas from the region known as Los Altos (northeast of Guadalajara). Tequilas from that area are generally sweeter and fruitier than those from the southwestern part of the state of Jalisco, drier and with a more pronounced woody taste.
Transparent and crystalline color. Typical aroma of tequilas , sage, citrus and pineapples at first. It is not harsh on the nose like other white tequilas, but floral and fruity aromas prevail. In the mouth the first drink is strong but only at the beginning. It is oily, almost thick as it moves across the tongue. Pleasantly sweet taste. Dry finish with notes of sweet citrus and black pepper.
