Origin: Japan
Suntory Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve Whiskey is a blend of Yamazaki malts, including traditional Yamazaki malts aged in Japanese oak (Mizunara) casks and new malts aged in wine barrels.
Intense golden colour. Aromas of strawberry and cherry, a touch of sherry barrel and mizunara (Japanese oak): Soft, round, elegant on the palate with spicy notes, vanilla, tropical fruit, dried fruit and rum.
THE DISTILLERY
The Yamazaki distillery was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, a merchant who began his career selling Spanish wines.
It is the first and oldest distillery in Japan. It is located in Kyoto, in an area believed to be the source of the purest water in Japan. There are three rivers that converge at the distillery, providing some of the softest water in the country, an element Shinji believes is key to the style of his whiskeys.
